Angel Falls, Venezuela
Angel Falls is the highest waterfall in the world, located in Venezuela’s Canaima National Park. With a height of 979 meters (3,212 feet), the falls plunge from the edge of a plateau, creating a breathtaking cascade of water that drops into the Devil’s Canyon below.
The falls are named after Jimmy Angel, an American aviator who was the first to fly over the falls in 1933. The indigenous Pemon people call the falls “Kerepakupai merĂº,” which means “waterfall of the deepest place.”
To visit Angel Falls, visitors must first travel to Canaima National Park, which is accessible by plane or boat. From there, visitors can take a guided tour to the falls, which includes a boat ride up the Carrao River and a hike through the jungle to reach the base of the falls.
The views of Angel Falls from the base are truly spectacular, with mist rising from the plunge pool and rainbows often visible in the spray. Visitors can also take a boat tour to get closer to the falls and to explore the surrounding canyons and waterways.
Angel Falls is a true natural wonder and a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Venezuela. Its impressive height, stunning beauty, and remote location make it one of the world’s most awe-inspiring landmarks.
